The
implementation of the Patagonian coastal Zone Management Plan has
the following objectives:
Create the institutional framework to implement the Management Plan.
Promote management actions evolved from the first phase and included
in the document "Patagonian Coastal Zone Management Plan –
Diagnosis and Recommendations".
Incorporate the province of Tierra del Fuego in the project Patagonian
Coastal Zone Management Plan.
Create a network of coastal protected areas of Patagonia.
Design demonstration pilot projects on fisheries and tourismto show
the advantages of using alternative practices with low impact on
the resource and higher revenues.
Implementation agencies
This project was aproved by the Global Environmental Facility. The
implementation of the Patagonian Coastal Zone Management Plan will
be led by the governments of the
provinces of Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz |

and Tierra del Fuego. Fundación Patagonia Natural will facilitate
the process.
Patagonian research centers and universities will be participants
too, to ensure the availability of technical information needed
to the management of coastal resources.
Legislators participation is crucial to give the legal framework
to the process of integrated planning to the region.
Duration
The Implementation of the Patagonian Coastal Zone Management Plan
project will be carried out in a period of five years.
